The Industrial Water Purifier Plant:

The industrial water purifier is mainly used to purify water at the large scale. This is based on the reverse osmosis technology. In the reverse osmosis technology, water is forced to pass through the membrane in the opposite direction of their natural flow. Generally, water flows from the lower concentration of solute to the higher concentration of solute or in the other word you can say that water flows from the high concentration to the low concentration of water. The membrane used in reverse osmosis technology is selective in nature and only allow the selective compound to pass through it.

The purification of water is one of the biggest concern of today's world. Nowadays everything is polluted including water, air, and soil which leads to many serious diseases. Approx 60% of human body is made up of water so the purity of water become the essential aspect. If your water is not pure than you become the host of many micro-organisms which can cause sickness in you.

Working of Industrial Water Purifier:

Industrial water purifier has multiple stages of water purification to give you the purest form of water. Their stages are discussed below:-

  • Sediment Filter/Spun:

This type of filter is just like sieves and only removes the physical impurities or sediment present on the bed or bottom of the water. This process is called as sedimentation. The pore size of the sediment filter is in “micron” and does not allow the particle whose size is more than the pore size of the sediment filter. There are two types of a sediment filter, namely normal & absolute sediment filter. Normal sediment filter removes about 85% of physical impurities whereas absolute sediment filter removes about 98-99% of physical impurities. Among the normal and absolute sediment filter, the normal filter is common whereas absolute filter is used when the higher grade of water is required.

  • Carbon Filter:

Carbon filter method use bed of activated carbon to removes the impurities present in the water. It is an effective method for the removal of impurities because carbon filter has a large surface area (one pound of carbon possess approx 125 acres surface area). This process depends upon the adsorption and traps the pollutant present in the water. This stage of water purification efficiently removes odor, chlorine, volatile organic compound, some physical impurities (sediments), and unpleasant taste of water. Carbon filter can remove sediments of 50 to 0.5 micrometers in size. There are two types of the carbon filter, namely granular activated carbon filter and block carbon filter. Granular activated carbon filter has slight positives charge which attracts the negatively charged impurities whereas block carbon filter is denser in nature so water travels slowly on the block carbon. The work efficiency of the carbon filter depends on many factors such as surface area, water flow, and time spent by contamination on the carbon filter (more the time contamination is in contact with carbon, more impurities are removed).

  • Reverse Osmosis Membrane:

In the reverse osmosis technology, water is passed through the semi-permeable membrane under high pressure. This semi-permeable membrane is made up of synthetic plastic material which allows the water to pass through it. The pore size of the membrane is near about 0.0001 microns. This stage of water purification is mainly used to remove dissolved impurities and salts. Reverse osmosis membrane is certified for the removal of many heavy metals such as lead, arsenic, copper, cryptosporidium, TDS (Total Dissolved Salts), and many others. RO membrane also removes the micro-organism (bacteria, fungi, algae, and others) present in the water.

  • Silver Coated Carbon:

Silver is bactericidal in nature which kills or reduce the reproduction rate of the micro-organism. Silver coated on the carbon prevent the growth of the micro-organism on the carbon and act as a disinfectant. This stage of water purification efficiently controls the growth of the micro-organism. The World Health Organization (WHO) guideline on drinking water says that 0.1mg/ liter silver in drinking water does not have any health risk.

  • UV Purification:

Ultra-violate rays are used in the UV-purification technology to kill or inactivate the growth of the bacteria, fungi, algae, and another biological contamination present in the water. So this technology is effective for the removal of micro-organism, but it can’t remove dissolve and undissolved impurities from the raw water. To overcome this problem UV-purifier unit contains pre-filters to eliminate the physical and dissolved impurities. It also contains activated carbon filter to removes the chlorine from the water as UV- filter can’t remove chlorine from your raw water. If your regular water contains high total dissolved salts (TDS) then you should choose UV+RO purifier.

  • Ozonation:

The process of ozone (i.e., O3)  generation is called as ozonation. It is an advanced technology mainly used for the water purification. Ozonation is a certified technology for the removal of additional impurities from your regular water. Generally, ozonation technology is used in swimming pool management along with food, chemical, medical & etc.

O3 (ozone) is produced by heating the oxygen (o2), it is a colorless gas which generally disappears in few seconds to 30 minutes. Ozone has disinfection properties hence it is suitable for the water purification process.

  • Re-mineralization:

Nowadays most of us suffering from a mineral deficiency disorder because we don’t take proper diet due to our busy schedule. So you need to take essential minerals from the water. Hence water purifier manufacturer introduces a new technology which not only removes the unwanted minerals but also maintains the level of essential minerals in your water. This stage is called as re-mineralization. In this stage, some of the minerals are re-added into your water to improve the quality of the water.

Component of Industrial Water Purifier:

  • Raw Water Pump: This pump allows the raw water to pass at a certain pressure.
  • Low-Pressure Switch (LPS):   This switch shut down the RO water purifier machine if input pressure is low.
  • High-Pressure Switch (HPS): HPS switch is used to shut down the RO water purifier machine if output pressure is low.
  • Dosing Pump: It is a positive displacement pump which is designed to pump a very precise flow of chemical into the water. In water purification process dosing pump are used to add antiscalant (antiscalant is a pretreatment injection which is added to the water before the raw water enters the RO membrane which delays the reaction between the calcium, magnesium, and bicarbonate) to a certain quantity. There are four different types of dosing pump which are given below:-
    • Diaphragm Type Constant Injection
    • Diaphragm Type Pulse Injection
    • Lobe type Pump
    • Peristaltic Pump
  • Automatic Electrical Panel: This panel contains a certain type of electric circuit
    • Rotameter: Rotameter is an electrical device which is generally used to monitor the volumetric flow of the water/liquid of a closed tube or container.
    • Pressure Gauges/ Vacuum Gauges: It is a device which is used to measure the pressure (i.e force applied by the fluid on the surface area) of the fluid.

Application of Industrial Water Purifier:
